Bulk or Bagged Mulch?
One of the biggest questions I am asked, “Should I buy mulch in bulk, or should I buy it bagged?” Let me explain.
While there are pros to both, there are more cons to traditional (small bags) bagged mulch. First of all, you will save a lot of money buying in bulk. Secondly, some people think if they buy in bulk, they have to spread the mulch within a couple days of taking the delivery. Not the case; you can leave the mulch in the same pile for the entire summer and apply as you have time. The mulch will not go bad.
As a rule it will not stain your driveway. The dyed mulches are more prone to leave slight stains, but normally a pressure washer can wash them out easily. With the natural mulches you might have a faded brown or black spot on the concrete for a couple weeks, but a couple good rains or a good wash will eliminate any evidence. To avoid staining of any kind, simply have a tarp spread out prior to delivery and our drivers will dump directly onto the tarp.
Mulch that is bagged will tend to dry out sooner, hence fading more quickly. Our Bulk Mulch is stored in very large piles (1,000+yards) up until it is transferred to our customer, meaning the mulch is composting and aging properly until right before application. Bulk Mulch can be loaded onto your pick-up or trailer, or we can deliver to your home. Unlike bagged mulch, there will be no trash (bags and pallets) when buying in bulk. Only need a small amount? We allow our customers to fill their own buckets, bags, and containers.
